Accepting oneself

When I was in school, I would imagine myself as an astronaut doing summersaults inside a space probe. It felt so real. I could vividly imagine water globules, pens, and my fellow astronauts flying infront of me.

Once I failed to crack engineering entrance exam of IIT, even after taking a gap year, I realised something profound. Some of the things are way beyond my brains reach and no matter how hard I try, I won't be able to achieve them. I also felt guilty for looking down upon my friends/comrades who were mediocre in studies than me.

It would be better if I concentrate on things which are within my grey cells reach. So I settled for an admission into a private engineering college and gave my best there. It served me well. I now have a  stable job and steady source of income.

Why am I sharing my sad uninspiring failure story, you might ask!

Knowing your true worth is the most important aspect while building your career. I see lots of youngsters trying too hard to achieve things which are beyond their limits and in-turn missing out on things which they could actually achieve and live a fulfilling life. Have you ever felt like this -- squandered possibilities!

Its time for you to self-introspect and make necessary course corrections for your career. Don't try too hard for an MBA or engineering or Law or MBBS if you are not able to crack them. Settle for something normal which is within reach.

Trust me you will save lots of time, energy and your parents hard earned money. You will also save yourself from mental agony and frustrations.

You can go for a normal graduation. Build  excellent networking skills and start a small business or become a digital marketing coach or start a cab sharing service. You can settle for writing books if that is your calling. You can still make more money in the long run. Atleast you will live in peace.

“Never forget what you are, the rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor and it can never be used to hurt you.”
